After a full day verification visit, we are delighted to be awarded the Wellbeing Award for Schools. The award is as an acknowledgement of Orchard’s commitment to promoting and protecting emotional wellbeing and mental health for children, staff and parents. The assessor’s report commented: ‘The school helps to address any stigma around reporting emotional wellbeing and mental health concerns by regularly sharing its commitment via assemblies, parent coffee mornings and other events. It is also a regular feature of school council, staff, Senior Leader and governor meetings. Orchard Primary uses events such as Children’s Mental Heath week to further promote awareness and emotional mental health and wellbeing is threaded though the curriculum. Innovative provision includes ‘walk and talk’ parents’ sessions and emotion coaching training for peer mediators.
