Junior Road Safety Leaflet

Our JRSOs have been busy making a leaflet with a focus on road safety. You can read it here:

Hackney School Streets

School Streets is the Council’s pioneering scheme to transform roads outside schools, so that only pedestrians and cyclists can use them at school start and finish times.

The streets tackle congestion and improve air quality at the school gates, making it easier and safer to walk and cycle to school.

They create a more pleasant environment for everyone, while making sure residents, businesses, pedestrians and cyclists can still use the road.

How will the scheme work and what are the operating times?

Holcroft Road, from its junctions with Well Street and Balcorne Street, and Balcorne Street from it’s junction with Well Street and Alpine Grove, will be made a Pedestrian and Cycle Zone for one hour in the morning and afternoon, from 8:30-9:30am and 3:00-4:00pm. The scheme will not operate on weekends or during school holidays. Pedestrian and Cycle Zone signage will be installed at all entrances into the zone, informing drivers of the restrictions (see map below).
