Chess

Chess is introduced in Year 3 as part of our commitment to developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills from an early age. Through regular lessons and guided practice, pupils learn the rules, strategies and sportsmanship of the game in a supportive and engaging environment. Chess helps children improve concentration, memory, planning and logical reasoning, while also building confidence and patience as they learn to think ahead and make careful decisions. By offering chess in Year 3, we give pupils a strong foundation for strategic thinking that supports their learning across the curriculum and encourages a lifelong love of challenge and intellectual growth.
