Day 4 – El Teide National Park
Today pupils were bubbling with excitement as we set off to visit El Teide National Park and see a real volcano with their own eyes.
After travelling high into the mountains, we arrived at the visitor centre above the clouds and into the bright sunshine of the national park. Pupils learned more about the unique flora, fauna and wildlife that live in this volcanic landscape before exploring the dramatic rock formations and gazing up at the impressive volcano itself.
As part of our project work, pupils demonstrated fantastic documentary skills by filming themselves speaking in Spanish about the volcano and the national park. We look forward to sharing the fully edited version when we return from the trip.
After a busy day of fieldwork, pupils spent time documenting their experiences in their diaries and writing postcards home before dinner. Many also enjoyed trying traditional Spanish and Canarian dishes such as papas arrugadas with mojo picón and paella.
It was an early night after such an exciting day so we are ready for our final full day on the island, when we return to our partner school to see our new friends again.
We cannot believe how quickly the week is passing. The teachers have been incredibly proud of the pupils, who have shown curiosity, enthusiasm and fantastic teamwork throughout the trip. They have embraced every opportunity to practise their Spanish, learn about the island and support one another. They have been an absolute pleasure to bring on this visit. They have represented the school brilliantly. Well done, chicos!
