Trainees on our other programmes are employed by the school in which they are based and learn ‘on the job’ alongside experienced teachers. As a paid employee there is an expectation that you will be able to teach classes or groups from day one and that you will be “up and running” quite quickly. You can be expected to teach up to 90% of a teacher’s timetable from September although this is generally not the case. This route takes two years.
- Satisfactory references
- Satisfactory medical assessment and Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS)
- National and Local Terms and Conditions of Employment
- Passing both maths and English QTS skills tests
- Satisfactory completion of between 1 and 5 days in one of our schools (this will depend on your experience). During the 1-5 day school experience, candidates are observed in a variety of situations and by a range of staff. We look at their approach to teamwork, relationships with staff and children, professionalism, flexibility and initiative during this period. It is also an extended opportunity for the candidate to confirm that they wish to become a teacher and that this is the right training route for them.
