Hispanic Day – July 2017
Have a look at a photographic memoire of our Hispanic day. It was a great success with children coming to school dressed up in very original Hispanic inspired outfits or in the colours of the Spanish flag. The wonderful team of year 5 and year 6 mini Spanish teachers put the salsa in the tortilla, teaching Spanish phrases and numbers to year 1 and year 2.
Visitors from Spain – May 2017
On Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th Year 6 were joined by 32 Spanish children from San Vicente de Paul, Mucia (El Parlmar)- South East Spain. We were paired with our pen pals, who we had been writing to all year. During our Literacy lessons we prepared a debate about where we thought the best place to live was- Spain or the UK. At Orchard we argued that Spain was the best place to live and the Spanish children opposed our argument, concluding that the UK was the best place to live. We also did lots of problem solving lessons together and talked about our families from around the world. We hope our partner school visits again soon.
Spain Study Visit – April 2017
Six Pupils from Orchard Primary School had an amazing opportunity to become language ambassadors on a funded school trip to visit one of our partner schools in Murcia, Spain. The pupils were immersed in Spanish life and had many opportunities to practise their Spanish and experience Spanish culture. This was a joint trip with twelve other pupils from our two other schools in the Federaration, Southwold and Hoxton Garden Primary School.
