The Federation choir had a busy Christmas and sang a collection of festive songs for the patients of Homerton University Hospital. The Federation Choir is now over 70 members strong and their incredible singing voices could be heard throughout the Hospital! Everyone was singing along!
Poplar class visited the Imperial War museum. They explored the museum and investigated the life of soldiers in WW1 hunting down the answers to tough military questions around the museum. They even experienced a taste of life in the trenches by seeing a life-size man made trench.
Apollo Music Project visited us for the second time this year. This time Year 5 enjoyed watching and listening to a string quartet. They performed music by Joseph Haydn and Maurice Ravel. During Maths lessons Cedar Class have been working hard to solve mathematical problems using cubes and other resources to support their fraction and division knowledge. Our times tables ambassadors are also out and about supporting other children to learn their times tables facts.
Orchard pupils have been out and about on trips and visits to learn more about their half termly topics. Orchard enjoyed another wonderful International Evening with food, dancing, receipe recordings, parades, choir performances and a live steel drums band as part of our World Week celebrations. Rowan Class have learnt to sing ‘London’s Burning’ both in unison and a four part round. This week they began to learn how to play the song on the glockenspiel and it’s sounding good already!
